FINALLY,
2008 is over (and good riddance. kind of.)
it was arguably the best year of highschool for some odd reason although we all battled through the second half of the crappiest year (junior year) and the first half of supposedly the best (definitely worse than junior year)
but! we got through it
i'm not gonna lie, it was pretty painful. but it also had its ups and i'd say...it was the biggest year for growth.
in 2008...i am thankful for:
second semester junior year, excel, baseball games+afterschool, yearbook, dance production, yogurtland runs, the class of 08, spirit week, junior prom, europe, hongkong china, homecoming, the class of 09, senior year :)

today is my mother's birthday. we went out to lunch at fontana's, the same restaurant we eat at every year around Christmas and we sat at the same table we always sit at.

FRIDAY RALLY:
i spent the first three periods of the day pissing my pants in anticipation of the rally
i was so scared !
BUT IT WAS AWESOME :) especially since we owned the other classes DESPITE our disadvantage :) i was soo happy.
i heard mr daren talking to mr draper. it's a close one!
either way, the rally was really fun and i loveee our class :)
the sophomores were amazing this time. no offense, juniors, below par compared to last year. you guys were just too good last year :/

we spent two hours folding homecoming programs. i got tired of my own face :(

FRIDAY NIGHT:
ahah we missed the whole game T_T but we got to ride amazingly fun golfcarts.
i feel vain talking about it but when we rolled around to where the seniors were and the place exploded, i never felt so thankful and happy for a class like that.
BTW, we won tug of war :)
there was a tie for queen and i felt happy because i guess we truly represent our class in different ways.
it was also one of the few times i was glad our color's white. we were blinding :)

SATURDAY:
i woke up at like 12 -____- way to go steffo....
i missed my senior portrait appt.
so i showered and ran to harker to do that. then i came home and did NOTHING for like two hours and then i had to go back to harker for dinner :/ NO HOMEWORK DONE WHATSOEVER and next week is a BEAST.

we had dinner at tanglewood which was mega fun, we broke the record with an 800 dollar dinner O_O and thenn we took 934983 photos. i got tired of smiling :(
we helped endorse GUCCI ahahaha and we finally got to do our mannequin poses at H&M after begging them to let us borrow their windows. a huge crowd of people gathered and i had never felt so self-conscious or awkward in my life but it was SO MUCH FUN.

then! back to harkerr
we spent forever in the bathroom and then got too freaked out to walk down the dark hallway by ourselves. we waited for deejay to save us even though it was like 20 ft. colby thoroughly freaked me out and i refused to move.
our entrance was spectacularly fun and i felt like a celebrity.
HC court was never my thing but i am so glad i did it.
the dance was soo fun, a whole lot better than the first mixer (there, i said it) we really do have to stop hiring the same lame dj though...

SATs were exhausting :( but the last SATI i have to take EVER. it wasn't a particularly painful experience and i think i did alright, i hope the curve will be good this month T_T bcus it SUCKED in march. anyways, i was pretty tired after and really didn't start homework until 10PM -___- but i did go to johnny rockets with deniz after a long month of ramadan :)) SO GOOD.
but we didn't buy anything after that bcus we felt fat :/

friday was a relatively decent day :) well, it started off CRAP.
and first period did NOT help, mr. gaston tore us apart. second week in a row!! when does this stop T_T bahhh. well, it's supposed to help us, right -__-
classes were okay after that, i ate lunch with danielle and she's right, it was the hardest i've laughed in a while.
the psych test (i think) was pretty easy, my grade depends on it though so i don't wanna jinx it....we got let out like half an hour early so brian and i went to yb/np to hang out and talk about

AFTERSCHOOL, mai and i went to mitsuwa (reliving old traditions) and spent more than an hour in kinokuniya hahha! they moved our favorite books T_T and mitsuwa got rid of PURIKURA so now i'm super sad :(( but we ate lots of good food.

so we watched this video in APES about the population crisis and i never realized how bad it was! and i've now decided that the world SUCKS bcus we're fighting over retarded thing when we have many more important things to deal with.
it also makes me so thankful for the things i DO have, but i wish i didn't have them. if the world didn't have such a huge difference in living standards, half our problems would be solved.
DOUBLE STANDARD ALERT.
1. i think that china's one child policy is not getting it's due credit. no matter how you look at it, it's the most effective method of population control yet. america calls this a violation of human rights. PAH, okay, send money and food to every third-world country that needs to keep all of its people warm and fed, after you do this, i'll listen to your definitions of "human rights."
and it's not like the highupthere people don't know this, they just like to manipulate the public in terms of international relations. or i'm giving world leaders too much credit?
2. japan's whole "pure blood" thing is a big ridiculous, 99% of japan is japanese! i understand the whole asian culture thing (even now it's kinda rare to mixblood...?) but not taking immigrants is slightly hitler-esque (as it always has been, we saw this back in the rape of nanjing times...) and NOT helping japan's future economy. HAVE MORE BEBES D:
3. india's booming population problem makes me soo sad :(( especially what the wives go through D:
4. i wonder what would happen if america suddenly had a huge babyboom. and i mean huge. huger than the early '90s (which is why we're screwed for college!! LAMESAUCE!)

i'm so overwhelmed with school these days, what with yearbook, tennis, dance?? (??), SATs this saturday, and college apps??
i cannot wait until december.
and it's not even october :((

at one point, i might have liked the class of 2010 as a whole. i thought they were cute with their annual christmas parties and what not. but then i heard them talk sht about seniors way too many times for unjustified reasons
and i've simply lost respect for them.
i like them individually! but not together -__-

today was a terrible day but it ended up really well. or maybe i'm just so apathetic towards everything that i'm just always...happy?

first period....ms. aguero totally ripped us apart T_T i'll admit that this project really sucked for me and i didn't really put much heart into it....
and she said she was disappointed in us :( i hate when adults say that. and then she singled out shelby and it pretty much sucked from there on. and she totally got on lauren about coming late and told her she wasn't committed -___- poor lauren.
i don't think we'd still be here after a semester of pre req if we weren't committed. anyways. that wasn't fun to hear first thing in the morning.
advisory was fun though :)
second period was lame since we discussed our tests and i ended up with a B T_T BAH and i felt like i did so well on it!
psych was SUCK. omfg i think i'm getting an interim. and i have like a borderline B?? schatz is the only senior teacher i know who cares about the whole 85 and below business. and now i have two weeks to bring it up. soo sophomore year repeat. that was the last time any teacher really got on me for that -____-
LAME. the class isn't fun at all :(
APES was fun, though :) haah our class is so chill.

RECAP OF PAST FEW DAYS!
football game was SUPER fun :) i got to hang out with a lot of friends and we printed like 14 FSPs hahaha because the printer was stupid and nirjhar managed to sell all of them in like ten minutes!! i spy income :)
so i spent 2 hours watching a printer print. and talking with friends while they stayed on the border of the forbidden room (44). and then seany and i went to the mall to buy stuff for the dance! :D
the game was AMAZING, our team was AMAZING!!!
dance was slightly stressful until it started, mr daren was upset that we came half an hour later than we said we would (we called!!) and the decorations were meh bcus the glow in the dark paint didn't have enough time to set AND the dj came 15 minutes before 8. SO nervewracking. besides that, the atrium is NOT the ideal place for a dance, i came out sweating like no other and mostly deaf :/
but i had fun!!
sunday,
i went to church, than to crepe daniel with my sisters, mother, cousin, and viriginia! afterwards, i got my hair cut. lol second time EVER at a real place, and this is why i don't pay for haircuts. it looks exactly the same as when my mom cuts it -__- sort of. then i did hw and cried and whined about college until the wee hours of the morning/worked on my personal statement.

this week, i have three tests
and i feel like school is REALLY starting now. i didn't do an SAT practice test this weekend :( and my personal statement is crap.
BUT
i'm playing tomorrow! and the fall sports program came out despite all the chaos and problems.

i REALLY don't want to do this psych "book"...

on another note, if you have any classes in the S&T building (or even if you don't), try going upstairs and running by the soundproof walls really fast and close to the wall. you go deaf in one ear O_O it's pretty cool. i did it several times today.

Tragedy of the Commons

is what we had to read for APes yesterday, the title is so epic but the only thing epic about it is how ridiculously long and boring it is. well actually, it's not TOO bad but at 1am, it's pretty bad.
i'm considering rereading it for the quiz tomorrow, though.

we had people over at our house everyday this weekend and on sunday, albert and anthony paid me a visit. bcus the only way they would leave winny's house is if they could come to mine -_-
so we stood in my dark driveway and chatted. sooo shady.
anyways, that was exciting, kind of.
the yearbook party was also at my house on sunday and i'd say it was a smashing success :) i miss the old kids. BTW HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JIEJIE :)
the food was excellent, as always.
i stayed up late working on APsa and the homework i procrastinated on the whole weekend :(

today would probably be a BAD day but it's not thursday and for some reason, i don't feel BAD.
i feel kind of happy all the time. i don't think i feel the extreme pressure yet. i realize it, though.
my locker hates me and wouldn't open the whole day until like, after college counseling :(
and i flunked my psych pop quiz bcus i don't have a book and blehhh i'm so annoyed, even though everyone failed it and she's dropping the lowest score...
i felt like i failed the FIRST QUIZ (beside summer reading) OF THE YEAR and yeah i felt pretty crappy. but not anymore :/
have i become apathetic? not really...
i don't know :/
i got to see won hee today during lunch. and i'm really happy that i'm seeing ana so much more than the past three years and simi is in my yearbook class :))
i don't see the guys THAT often i GUESS
at least brian thinks so :P haha i see you guys enough :)

mr. walsh is really cool, i think. he's gone all over the world and speaks so many different languages and has a great sense of humor :P plus, we got upgraded to the S&T building!! so exciting.
anyways, afterwards, i had to go to tennis :( tennis should be illegal on hot days like today. i sweat a lot and probably burned my cheeks (although not as bad as before).
TOMORROW IS WEDNESDAY AND I LOVE THOSE cept they're not as laidback as thursdays. i think bad days may fall less often on thursdays this year! my schedule is slightly in my favor. kind of.

in psych, we talked about how we can't really trust our own intuition and our feelings and our minds and whatever. that makes me VERY INSECURE.
God, why are we so complex?

i told my mom today about jose's adventure in mandarin in telling us that

and i asked her, WHY WOULD HE BUY THEM?
and she said
well we bought some in australia and you played with them when you were little and i was like
wtf
...i played with bebe chickens. LOL
apparently at the victora market in melbourne held every weekend, they sell strange things like bebe birdies :P

those were good times! the '90s, LOL
in australia,
i remember driving to sydney once WITHOUT MY SEAT BELT, i was born a rebel.
and being afraid to walk to the park because of wolves and dingoes. and when i would make my cousin buy me balloons even though all he wanted to do was watch basketball.
and when i visited my grandparents in shanghai, it was pouring rain. my grandma could still walk then :)
and when i went to fuzhou, my grandma made chicken soup and i planted a pipa tree. my grandpa killed it, i think. i used to make him send me monthly updates on how his i'm-going-to-quit-smoking plan was going. it didn't work :(
i also remember chasing down the ice cream man when we lived in the ghettos (jk) of berkeley with my daddy. and watching asian boys steal turtles from golden gate park every weekend, and flying kites on the beach!
my childhood was good.
i pity my sisters, somehow. they're growing up in a much sadder world.
is this tragedy of the commons? not really. i'm not exploiting all the good, natural, simple pleasures in life in self-interest. they just seem to disappear by themselves...
and i'm sorry for it.

i'd like to meet this ABC guy at my mom's work. but i'm afraid i might slap him.
he's a real asshole :)
